MrsDukes, the font

It’s been a popular site blogged today (I first saw it on How About Orange). Create a font with your handwriting using fontifier. Previewing it is free, downloading is nine buckaroonies. Personally, I wouldn’t buy it, but, you know, it’s fun.

Be Mine

I love vintage valentines. Ggmossgirl has a nice flickr set with some real cuties.

Mini House Pattern

I made a simple pattern this morning for my mini fabric houses (see last post). I made a paper mockup which turned out great, so we’ll see once I try it with fabric. I need to decide what to fill it with. (Maybe sand? I want it to be a little weighty.) I think I’ll need to stiffen the sides somehow so it doesn’t turn out lumpy.

The base of the houses are 1.5″ square. Here is a downloadable .pdf if anyone’s interested.

Day 6 (um..so I skipped a few days)

Mr. Dukes came up with a great suggestion for my remainder of Thing-A-Day. I’m going to make a board game. Here are my brainstormings. I’m pretty excited about this.

Day 2

My husband and I finally watched the new LOST last night. We are completely hooked on that show, and we’re not just your typical “I’ve seen every episode” fan. We read the forums, listen to the podcasts, spend WAY to much time on Lostpedia.

All that to say, the next few days of Thing-A-Day will be devoted to creating a comic strip of the first episode.

See it bigger here. (Warning: spoilers)

Yes, I know. I’m a nerd.

Girl Crushes: Denyse Schmidt

Oh, Denyse. You’ve done it again. Maybe someday I will work up the guts (and the patience) to actually try my hand at quilting. (Pattern available here.)

Day 1

Hurray! I’m going to try to make, doodle, or bake something everyday this month. And so are a lot of other people.
